Michigan

Michigan has over 11,000 lakes, at least 5 acres in size, and at least 62,500 total lakes. Many of these lakes share the same name, including popular names such as Clear Lake, Silver Lake, and Round Lake.

Apart from housing the multitude of inland lakes, Michigan also borders four of the Great Lakes. Lake Michigan, Lake Superior, Lake Huron, and Lake Erie offer visitors and locals alike outdoor enjoyment.

Michigan waters have produced some truly impressive fish, including a 58-pound muskellunge and a 52-pound catfish. If reeling in the big one is on your to-do list, Michigan lakes may be the place to do it.

Apart from the world-class fishing, sailing, and boating make up a large part of the lake culture in Michigan. Each of the Great Lakes plays host to multiple sailing clubs. Many inland lakes in Michigan are perfect for powerboating.
